National Nursing Home Week 2014

What a week we have had here at Spencer County HealthCARE Center! Our themes covered a variety of interests to insure that all of our residents and Stakeholders would enjoy the entertainment! Sports Day started of the week with a Pep Rally, pom-poms, cheerleaders and ball park treats. Tuesday brought Camo Day and we enjoyed all the fun experiences of going camping. This was followed up with a 50’s – Sock Hop theme on Wednesday. With an Elvis impersonator , coke floats and poodle skirts, the facility was rockin’ and rolling! Friday wrapped up the week with a Hawaiian Luau. Grass skirts, leis, island music and frozen coconut drinks completed the relaxed atmosphere!

I didn’t forget about Thursday! With the Country – Western theme, it was all about music, denim, and bandanas. Hosting our very own “Grand Ole Opry”, a few of our Stakeholders got together and presented an incredible lip-synced show of the residents favorite country music artists! We had Minnie Pearl (Human Resources- Joan Shaw) as the MC and then it was Johnny Cash (Maintenance- Jamison Stamper), Loretta Lynn (Housekeeping Director- Robin Hopper), Dolly Parton (Business Office- Vickie Kippes), The Judds (MDS Office- Lisa Maskalick & Heather Herndon), Willie Nelson, Waylan Jennings, Meryl Haggard (Nursing- Amanda Williams, Ashley Owens & Cindy Proctor), Patsy Cline (Chaplain- Suzanne Priddy) and directed by David Brown, Administrator. It was a star-studded line up! The Atrium was alive with music, smiles, hand clapping and foot stomping as the “stars” came back out to the stage for “Will the Circle be Unbroken”!

The team spirit that was expressed this week was outstanding. Every department was involved and is already sharing ideas for next year!
