Signature Healthcare of Spencer County has three very loving residents who have given their time and talents for a very special project called “Beanies for Babies”. These sweethearts, Barbie Sharp; Rita Bowman; and Patsy Morris; along with their Seven Counties PASRR support staff, Vicki Walker, made 32 hats during the month of April for newborn military babies at Fort Knox.
All three ladies were thrilled at the thought of helping out military families and their new infants by knitting the hats. A representative, Sherri Yancey, coordinator of the ACS Volunteer Program was very pleased with the donation to the Family Advocacy New Parent Support Program for military newborns. This program was one of many in support of National Child Abuse month, April 2015.
One of the ladies, Ms. Barbie Sharp knitted and donated 50+ hats last year to the children of Kosair Hospital in Louisville as a gift for the love and care she received there as a child. The ladies were honored by Vicki with a picnic in the facility courtyard with their favorite Subway meals for their hours of selfless knitting to complete their goal. These ladies are already searching for the next project that touches their big hearts and is in need of their talents.
