Signature HealthCARE of Spencer County celebrated National Nursing Home week by going on a “cruise.” Our vessel was named “Stars of the Sea” and everyone had a passport with an itinerary to let them know where we would be visiting. Our first Port of Call was in Mexico, where we had a piñata, nachos, and churros to eat. The décor and music along with their lei’s took them to the shores of Mexico.
Over the next couple of days we visited Africa and then the Bahamas. Each day the music, food and entertainment was a reflection of our destination. On Friday we had a “Stars of the Sea” dinner music show featuring our management and directors as the following: Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Sonny & Cher, Shirley Temple, The Chordettes, Martha & the Vandellas, Beach Boys & Tina Turner.
We ended the show with the group singing, “Lean on Me”, dancing and enjoying this special time with our residents. With the stage background decorated and the costumes on, the residents, staff and families were taken to another place and time. Our Administrator, David Brown was the director and should win an award for pulling us all together for this wonderful event. We celebrate our residents and staff and look forward to more good times in the near future!
