Mr. G admitted to the facility with a history of stroke and severe swallowing difficulties. Mr. G was not able to eat without developing pneumonia.

He worked hard with Speech Therapy and participated in a swallow study which showed he could tolerate small amounts of food as long as it was the consistency of pudding.

Mr. G continued to work hard with Speech Therapy until he was eventually able to tolerate 2 small snacks of pudding-thick foods a day.

He is awaiting a doctor’s appointment to see if his diet can be progressed further.

Mr. G’s wife reports that he is noticeably happier since being allowed his ‘snacks’!! And he has not had pneumonia again since therapy!!
